What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!

O what peace we often forfeit
O what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer

いつくしみ深き、友なるイエスは、
I tsukushimi fuka ki, to monaru Iesu wa
われらの弱きを、知りて憐れむ。
Wa rera no yowaki o, shi rite awaremu
悩みかなしみに、沈めるときも、
Nayami kana shimi ni, shizu meru tokimo
祈りにこたえて、慰めたまわん。
Inori ni kotae te, nagu same tamawan

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged
Take it to the Lord in prayer

世の友われらを、棄て去るときも、

祈りにこたえて、労りたまわん。
Inori ni kotae te, ita wari tamawan

Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness
Take it to the Lord in prayer
